Synopsis:
Perfect for families with a kids club and a restaurant and bar on site.
The town on Lagos itself is only a ten minute walk from the resort and is a lovely town with a massive selection of very family friendly restaurants.
The town offers a taste of the night life as you get closer to the New Town wall which is only a short distance from the resort.
Getting There:
It is a three hour flight from Dublin to Faro. From Faro is about an hour to the Marina Club Resort but it is well worth the time. On the way to the resort, you will pass the salt farms which are amazing to see.
The Resort: Apartment
I stayed in the Marina Club Apartments II. The Marina Club have a range of both 3 and 4 star apartments.
Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms (one ensuite), a very well equipped kitchenette and a TV in the living area. The apartment also has a terrace area with two chairs, a dining table and a washing line.
The apartment is set with steps out onto the grass in front of the pool but far enough away that you still have privacy from a tree that blocks the terrace from the view of others.
The Marina Club resort is very well kept with cleaning services to the rooms daily. Wi-Fi is available however the service isn’t good outside of the reception and bar area.
The pool area can get very busy and the sun loungers can be hard to get as people take them very early. There is a small kids club and playground for young kids. There is also a snack bar beside the pool selling light snacks and ice-cream.
The Town:
The town itself is a lovely old town with cobblestone streets and a lovely atmosphere.
There are usually street performers in the two main squares during peak time. There is a Pro Putting Garden only a twenty five minute walk up through the town which is open from 10am – 10pm.
The upper old town near the Putting Garden is where the night life starts with a few hostels and more lively bars and restaurants.
The water park is only a 45 minute drive to Lagoa from the resort and you get vouchers for staying at the Marina Club. There is also a bus from the supermarket, only five minutes from the resort that goes straight to the water park.
Things To Do:
If you hire a car there are a wide range of activities that are easily accessible including a karting track and wakeboarding. There are also a range of beaches that are spectacular.
I would recommend going to Sagres and Monchique as both were highlights of my holiday. There is also a lovely sandy beach only a 10 minute walk from the resort where two sunbeds and an umbrella are only 10 euro for the day.
I loved my holiday at the Marina Club Resort in Lagos and would definitely recommend it.
