Overview of the trails
In Neolithic, Roman, Arab, and medieval perceptions, this hike led to where the Earth ended. And also where the sun sank into a boiling, snake-filled ocean. Embark on the same journey and spend 4 to 7 days along the Atlantic coast. You will find yourself smack bang in the midst of historic sites. Delicious local cuisine, breathtaking views and remarkable wildlife is all around you. You can pick your route, but here are some sites you might want to include on your hike.
Lagos
One of the most commonly visited towns in Algarve, Lagos has something for everyone. The days are sunny and relaxed while the nights are lively and free-spirited. Hike to the beautiful azure-coloured waters, and see rock coves and sea caves like you’ve never seen before. Some say these inlets are the best in all of Europe. You can even get lost in a 16th century maze of plazas and cobblestone streets or check out the fishing port for some fine seafood. Lagos is also full of history from the town’s former maritime empire.
Vicentine Coast Natural Park
If exceptional sights are what you’re looking for, you have to check out the Vicentine Coast Natural Park. You’ll get the off-the-beaten-track holiday experience with stunning ocean views, multiple hiking paths, and nature as far as you can see. In fact, there is no major city in site as you take in the fresh air and exquisite wildlife. Embark on the Fisherman’s trail running along the coastline for hotspot fishing and one of the best coastal trails in the world.
Seven Hanging Valleys Trail
Simply stunning. The Seven Valley Trails takes you through many of the area’s natural gems and is easily one of the most rewarding hikes you will ever take. Take a hike later in the day and experience a beautiful sunset against the endless waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Preparing for Your Trip
Be sure that you book accommodation along your 4 to 7-day journey along the coast. With over 222 hotels in Algarve, you are sure to find something perfect for your stay. Also, be sure to brush up on your outdoor survival skills. Keep up a great attitude, and be sure you know how to act in an emergency.
Know how to find food and water if you need it, how to quickly find shelter, and how to build a fire. Although hiking is a fun way to connect with the environment, you need to make sure you’re ready to take on the environment.
Once you’re ready to take on Mother Nature, book your accommodation and you will be exploring world’s end in no time. Remember to have fun traversing one of the most beautiful coastal views in the world, but also be safe and prepared.
